The music made by the Luxman DA-06 is rich, resolute, refined, and oh so smooth. Regardless of my music’s pedigree, I found myself enjoying entire album’s worth upon album’s worth, getting sucked into their sounds and moods to the point of being completely lost in tunes. I cannot think of a higher compliment to pay a piece of hi-fi gear. Michael Lavorgna Audiostream.com

Luxman has a long track record of producing outstanding products. Their latest DA-06 Digital To Analog Converter (DAC) carries on the tradition with leading edge digital technology packaged in a beautiful sleek enclosure that is sure to impress all who audition it.
Luxman is an early supporter of the streaming DSD format. Long used in recording studio and in SACD technology, DSD provides very high resolution playback with spectacular results. Since the introduction of the DA-06, many music companies have begun offering native DSD files greatly expanding the available catalog. This rapid growth has prompted most digital equipment manufacturers to support DSD and ensuring the future of this outstanding digital format.
Of course, the DA-06 also supports traditional PCM files with up to 24/192 resolution through its AES and S/PDIF interfaces and up to 2X DSD via USB. Through its user selectable filtering scheme, we were able to set the personality of the DAC to suit our tastes, something we wish more manufacturers would incorporate. Multiple digital inputs and outputs allows us to easily integrate it into our rack without much effort, something that is getting rarer in most audiophiles cluttered racks.
So much for the numbers, what does the DA-06 sound like? Its sound is easily recognizable with its classic Luxman smoothness. Its all there-the liquid midrange makes voices simply float and a relaxed soundstage that allows for hours of uninterrupted listening without fatigue. There is nothing “digital” about its sound and that is the DA-06’s greatest trait. Remember, this is about listening to music, not admiring technical accuracy.
Being vinyl fanatics at Analog Audio, we are always skeptical of new digital products and claims. The Luxman DA-06 quickly calmed those fears with its beautiful relaxing presentation and allowed us to do what we love: listen to music. Please give us a call about auditioning the Luxman DA-06 DAC for yourself and see what DSD can do for you.
